Just a few notes about mechanical pencils I own.

OHTO Promecha OP-1000P

OHTO’s OP-1000P is its midrange Promecha model. Almost entirely metal – largely aluminium, with matt silver finish over some brass components. The 10.5mm diameter grip stands quite proud of the barrel, with fine smooth diamond-cut knurling. The upper barrel has four rubber o-rings, giving a distinctive look. At 18g, it’s much more substantial than the rather light SP-500P.

The lead sleeve is adjustable up to 5mm by twisting the grip, and can be completely retracted for safe transport. But there is no lead cushioning.

Removable pocket clip. Good lead grade indicator in the push-button. Normal replaceable eraser with clearing pin.

Quite tip heavy, but I didn’t find this a problem in use. £11.50 from Cult Pens.
